Self-Care Actor

July 2018 - October 2018

This project was a personal healing endeavor taken up by Egle after a painful and toxic relationship. Not yet sure of herself and her direction as a creator, Egle was riddled with doubt and anxiety. She had fallen in love with a man who had treated her hatefully, continuously attempting to hurt and use her at every turn. After nearly getting pregnant in April of 2018, Egle fell into an intense vortex of depression, questioning her worth as a woman, the value and purpose of her life, and feeling completely emotionally drained. After one last attempt at making that relationship work, she decided to create this series in order to shed any lingering feelings or thoughts that were holding her back. She created 11 images and 11 poems, all read aloud in the video here. For more details about this project, click here.

Empowerment Business Cards

Started - March, 2018; ongoing

The video explains the premise of this project best, but a quick summary:

  • Started because Egle wanted to merge the idea of business cards that are memorable & interactive with a project she wanted to do where she gave people permission to do things they didn't feel like they could do.
  • Total of 150 cards with variations:
    • Granting liberation from something
    • Granting permission for something
    • Granting the power to do something
  • Each person pays what they want/can, thus investing in their own well-being.
  • May be edited, gifted, or sold to other people once acquired.

2017

Zodiac Series

December 2017 - November 2018

Inspired by drawing tributes to the lunar calendar, Egle decided to create a series of images to learn more about, educate, and honor each traditional zodiac sign. She posted the first image at the end of 2017 for Capricorn and finished with Sagittarius in November of 2018. Each month, Egle did a bit of research about the qualities ascribed to each sign, as well as other astrological attributes assigned to them. She used this information as a springboard for her images. Originally intended to be turned into a calendar (which might still happen), this series will eventually be continued with different concepts for creating the images in upcoming years. After a few months of drawing the zodiac, Egle came to the conclusion that the qualities of each sign influences all people on earth during our transition through space. She loves thinking about how to best harness each period and finds astrology fascinating, although not entirely sure about the validity of horoscopes. Click here for more images and descriptions.

Chinese/Lunar New Year Drawings

Started in February, 2017; ongoing

Egle had been interested in Easter spiritual practices ever since learning about Buddhism in 3rd grade. Having read Siddhartha in high school, delving into a personal meditation practice and study of Buddhism, in college reading the Bhagavad Gita, exploring more about Hinduism, shamanism, Reiki, and other aspects of spirituality through her studies, and eventually studying abroad for a semester in Shanghai, Egle came to revere the power of the moon and Chinese traditions and spirituality. In 2017 she decided to create a piece of art for every new year of the Lunar/Chinese calendar. Click here for more details about the images created for each year so far.

Mandalas

An ongoing series that Egle started in 2011/2012.

Definition: a geometric figure representing the universe in Hindu and Buddhist symbolism.

  • a symbol in a dream, representing the dreamer's search for completeness and self-unity.
  • means "disk" in Sanskrit

Carl Jung used mandalas to explore his psyche, which Egle started practicing as well. A mandala can be almost any round or circular image that expresses something related to our inner world. Click here for the full colletion of images produced by Egle.
